    Default Poisonous or not?

We seem to have many snakes where we live. We have the large harmless garden snakes and than some I cannot seem to identify. Yesterday at 5 am one of our recently rescued dogs was out barking at a snake within inches from the head. It was all different colors but mostly a beige/grey with spots of rose and i can't remember the other color. It was a spotted snake with manners!

I brought the dogs in and let the snake go while thanking it for not biting my crazy dog.

    Any ideas?

probably `blavor` technically he is a lizzard.he is in fact the nemesis of the real snakes.

There are two species of venomous snakes in Montenegro:
"Sarka" and "Poskok" -Horned Viper .

but "sarka"comes in different colours, from almost black to almost red or pink.
i saw many different variants of SARKA snake

the best way to see is it poison snake or not is to see it's head.
Sarka and poskok got triangle shaped head, and poskok got horn on the nose.

non poison snakes here got oval head like "bjelouska(white ear snake)"and "smuk".

    blavor is leg-less lizard,non poison,light brown back.

    this is Blavor

mediteranian scorpio i think can not kill a cat.
even poison snakes can not kill a cat.
as i know cats eat some grass called cat's grass, and that is antidote for poison...

there are scorpions but only in countryside, they are not that poisonous, it hurts a lot when they bite you but you can't die. Where do you live anyway considering that you are in touch with snakes?

Thanks for the photos... So it was a snake after all. Think perhaps a new species... When i see it again i will snap a photo. It was not a horned Viper but perhaps a Viper.

We have tons of Scorpions in our home as well....But only when it is warmer. They like the bathrroom as it tends to be humid and slippers! Arghhh

Slee if you see anything resembling a snake there, leg it,you don't wanna get bit by a viper by hanging around to see if its a blavor.
I've seen big snakes 6ft long around lepatane & the mountain rd heading out of kotor to tivat.

Especially if it's the horned poskok - the poison is so powerful, if you're away from help and the serum, you'll certainly die within a couple of hours.
...dip your hands in the water,
the same deep water as me...

snake will not bite, only if u step on it

in 99.99% cases it will escape.
poskok and sharka are not mambas and cobras

to put away snakes and other reptiles from house u need this:

    or this:

sarka and poskok are poisonous, but sarka's venom is not enough strong to kill an adult human..

These two snakes are usually less then 1m long (average poskok is about 60-70cm long, sarka little bit longer). If you see a snake whitch is longer then 1m, relax.. it's not poisonous.

    cheers
