Mercedes duo Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher insist they are confident of a solid showing when F1 returns to Canada next weekend.

Schumacher took fourth place in Turkey with Rosberg behind in fifth to give Mercedes its best points haul from a single weekend, but the team still struggled to match the pace of rivals McLaren and Red Bull who were able to build a healthy lead in the race.

Heading for Canadian soil, Rosberg said he was hopeful that Canada would be better suited to the W01 than Istanbul and that the gap to the cars ahead would come down.

"The circuit is technically challenging and fun to drive with the very long straight combined with short and slow corners,” he said. “Our Mercedes-Benz engine will certainly be a big help on the main straight. We will have some further upgrades for the race weekend and the fact that the circuit characteristics are quite different from Istanbul Park makes me go there with high hopes. I think we might just put in a great result."

Schumacher admitted that top speed is one area where the team is currently lacking but the seven-time champion insisted that everyone involved would push to get the maximum from the package.

“I am very much looking forward to starting the race weekend,” he said. “The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is all about top speed so we have worked very hard on this, especially as we know that we are not right at the top in that area. However I am convinced that we will be able to get the best out of our package."

Red Bull Racing announced on Monday that Mark Webber’s contract has been extended, meaning the Australian will continue to drive for the team next season. Webber, who leads the 2010 driver standings, has been with the Austrian-owned squad since 2007.

With Sebastian Vettel already contracted to Red Bull for next year, it means the team’s driver line-up will remain unchanged for the third season in a row.

Pazi, Webber je bio u safe fuel modu, to znaci -10 - -15% snage, to je znao Horner, Vetel i svi.
Ovaj nije imao sanse da se brani, kad je vidio koliko je Vettel brz, i kad je vidio da nema sanse protiv njega, trebao je da ide desno i da mu otvori put, ovaj je samo nastavio pravo.

Ja vam sad kazem, 99% nece biti ugovora.

Odličan potez Red Bulla. Motivacija za Mark-a, posebno jer u Istanbulu nije bio kriv ni malo.
