    Mars Athmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN mision.

    Daklen sonda je lansirnoj stanici na raketi Atlas V (puno ime, United Lounch Aliance Atlas V rocket).

    Misija je ispitivanje evolucije Marsove atmosfere sa 4 značajne tačke:

    1. Odrediti značaj gubitka Marsove atmosfere na razvoj ekologije planete.
    2. Odrediti stanje gornje atmosfere i Ionosfere i uticaj solarnog vijetra.
    3. Odrediti koliko se neutralnih i Ioniziranih atoma atmosfere trenutno gubi u svemir i mehanizam procesa koji je odgovoran za to.
    4. Odrediti odnose stabilnih izotopa i atmosferi.

    Dodatno iz svega ovoga biti će lako zaključiti gdje je najveći dio vode sa Marsa nestao. U kombinaciji sa roverom Curiosity će istraživati dinamiku atmosfere i na koji način Marsovo tlo interaguje sa njom, takođe pokušati će otkriti porijeklo Marsovog metana.

    Zašto je metan bitan?

    Metan je gas koji je veoma reaktivan i ne opstaje dugo u atmosferi planeta unutarnjeg sistema (Merkur, Venera, Zemlja, Mars) poluživot je oko 50 godina. Metan se brzo raspada pod uticajem ultravioletnog svijetla sa sunca tako da otkrivanje količine metana u atmosferi Marsa dokazuje da se gas metan konstantno obnavlja nekim procesom.

    Postoji nekoliko poznatih izvora metana na Zemlji od kojih je većina povezana sa procesima vezanim za život.

    Procesi vezani za život:

    1. Anaerobna dekompozicija: odnosno bakterije koje razgrađuju biološki talog bez prisustva kiseonika.
    2. Metabolizam viših životinja (u principu krave i skoro sve druge životinje bukvalno prde metan).
    3. Oslobađanje metana iz naslaga ugljovodonika (nafte, naslaga gasa, uljnog pijeska, metanskog leda na dnu oceana itd)
    4. Industrijska aktivnost

    Procesi nevezani za život:

    1. Vulkanska aktivnost.
    2. Posebni procesi unutar nekih vrsta minerala.

    Niti jedan od ovih procesa nije još opažen na Marsu tako da riješenje metanske zagonetke predstavlja veoma važnu okosnicu misije.

    Sonda treba biti lansirana u nekoliko idućih dana, možda 22 Novembra 2013

    Istraživanje Marsa se nastavlja.

    Danas dosta novosti iz Sunčevog sistema.

    Evo i novih podataka sa robotske labaratorije Curiosity.

    Istražujući Gale krater ovaj robot je pronašao zapanjujuće dokazr da je Gale čak nedavno bio tekuće jezero, (nedavno u geološkom smislu). Dobro sam preslušao video 2 ili 3 puta jer nisam mogao vijerovati. Naime pronašao je dokaze da je u krateru bilo tekuće vode (i to sa neutaralnim PH u prevodu pitka voda) prije samo 4.1 milion godina, negdje u doba kada je "pramajka" Lucy hodala Afrikom.

    Prvo sam mislio da je rekao milijardi (Što mi je nekako bilo logičnije) ali jasno je izjavio da se radi o 4.1 milion godina. Znači bukvalno nedavno Mars je imao površine pod vodenim pokrivačem.

    U slučaju Gale kratera ta vodena površina je trajala barem nekoliko stotina hiljada godina.

    Sada ne mogu zaključiti dali je Mars bio takav uvijek i tek nedavno se isušio ili Mars prolazi kroz periode toplije klime i ovo su periodične pojave. Pitanje je gdje je sva ta voda? Ispod zemlje kao permafrost, na polovima, oboje možda?

    Postoje indikacije da je sva ta voda upravo skrivena kao led jedva nekoliko centimetara isopd pijeska kako ukazuju fotografije dobivene sa ostalih rovera i platformi (Opportunity rover, Spirit rover, i Phoenix lander).

    Međutim (barem za mene) ovo predstavlja nešto stvarno neočekivano.




    U svakom slučaju Curiosity opravdava svoj rad gomilom iznenađujućih otkrića, a tek je počeo rovariti po toj planeti.

    John Grotzinger of Caltech and co-authors examined physical characteristics of rock layers in and near Yellowknife Bay and concluded the habitable environment there existed at a time "relatively young by Martian standards." It was a part of Martian history called the Hesperian Era, when parts of the planet were already becoming drier and more acidic, less than 4 billion years ago and roughly the same time as the oldest evidence for life on Earth.
    "This habitable environment existed later than many people thought there would be one," Grotzinger said. "This has global implications. It's from a time when there were deltas, alluvial fans and other signs of surface water at many places on Mars, but those were considered too young, or too short-lived, to have formed clay minerals. The thinking was, if they had clay minerals, those must have washed in from older deposits. Now, we know the clay minerals could be produced later, and that gives us many locations that may have had habitable environments, too."
    Research suggests habitable conditions in the Yellowknife Bay area may have persisted for millions to tens of millions of years. During that time rivers and lakes probably appeared and disappeared. Even when the surface was dry, the subsurface likely was wet, as indicated by mineral veins deposited by underground water into fractures in the rock. The thickness of observed and inferred tiers of rock layers provides the basis for estimating long duration, and the discovery of a mineral energy source for underground microbes favors habitability throughout.

    Hvala na ispravci, moja greška, trebao sam provijeriti na nasinom websiteu (neoprostiva greška s moje strane, povučen šok efektom, nisam provijerio činjenice (Hank Green obično daje provijerene činjenice i nism pošao za tim da je naprvio grešku iako saam znam da je ovo što je rekao upitno ali sam se nekako ponadao da zna nešto do čega ja nisam još došao).

    A opušteno. Covjek sigurno zna dosta , ali do informacija dolazi prvenstveno istražujući druge izvore i čitajući novosti sa raznih strana. Obično u potpisu videa daje izvore i reference . S obzirom da on to sve sam ne radi ( barem ne vjerujem), vec neko za njega ponesto istrazuje i pise tekst, montira , desi se greska. Na samom videu se vidi kontradiktornost gdje pise habitable lake= really old , a onda kaže 4 miliona godina.

    29 Decembra ESA planira poslati svoju sondu Mars Express na svega 45 Km od Marsovog satelita Fobosa. Ovo će biti najbliži prolaz ove sonde do sada ovom satelitu.

    Na žalost sonda ne ide u ovu misiju zbog fotografisanja već samo da izmijeri tačno gravitacijono polje satelita (i time gustinu istog). Ovo, zbog toga jer ovaj satelit ima izuzetno malu gustinu za svoju veličinu pa naučnici smatraju da se u stvari ne radi o agregatu komada stijenja, pijeska i prašine koje se drže zajedno zajedničkom gravitacijom, a ne o asteroidu u jednom komadu. Blizak prolaz sa ovim satelitom bi možda mogao dati neke odgovore povodom tog pitanja.

    S druge strane postoje čak i neka teorija zavijere vezana za ovaj satelit, u stvari da se ne radi o prirodnom obijektu već o vanzemaljskom viještačkom satelitu koji je šupalj iz nutra i naravno NASA sve zna o tome ali kriju.

    Pa, dokle Curiosity rovari po Marsu, njegov predhodnik još uvijek funkcioniše i donosi nova otkrića. Misija koja je trebala trajati 90 dana, danas puni punih 10 godina rada.

    Naime Oportunity rover je sletio na Mars 24 Januara 2004 godine i evo poslje 10 godina još uvijek funkcioniše, kako kažu operateri na Zemlji, " hajde da vidimo možemo li dosegnuti onaj krater", i tako 10 godina.

    Na žalost njegov blizanac Spirit je prestao funkcionisati prije oko 2 godine, međutim Oportunity i dalje tjera napred, donoseći nova saznanja o Marsu.

    Srećan rođendan epskoj mašini.

    Zanimljiv članak o Curiosity roveru koji je upravo napunio 2 godine na marsu.

    Usput ne zaboravimo da ovog Novembra kometa Siding Spring prolazi pokraj Marsa i da će je Curiosity posmatrati, kao i mogući meteorsku kišu.

    Dodatni dokazi da je Mars dugo kroz svoju geološku povijest posjedocao jezera, možda i oceane.

    Gornja fotografija dobivena sa Curiosity rovera pokazuje debele naslage sedimenata koje na našoj planeti mogu nastati tek kroz desetine miliona godina.
